(VIDEO) Tensions escalate: French and Israeli fans clash during match
The France-Israel UEFA Nations League match saw a notably low turnout, with heightened security measures in place to prevent conflicts. Despite these efforts, tensions still boiled over.
Details: According to RMC Sport, a fight broke out between the small groups of supporters from both teams during the match.
Around 50 fans were involved in the altercation, which was eventually brought under control after intervention from police and stewards.
Reminder: Only 15,000 tickets were sold for the Stade de France, which has a capacity of 80,000. This low turnout is largely attributed to the negative sentiments held by many of France's Arab residents towards Israel. To ensure security, 4,000 police officers were deployed.
Among those in attendance were French President Emmanuel Macron and other high-ranking government officials.
