Former Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Manchester United forward Memphis Depay made a move to Brazilian club Corinthians this autumn, but he struggled to make an impact in his first three matches, drawing criticism from fans for his poor physical condition. However, last night Depay finally found the back of the net.
Details: In the 30th round of Brazil's Série A, Corinthians faced Atlético Paranaense. Early in the second half, Corinthians were awarded a free-kick, and Depay struck in his trademark style, curling the ball neatly into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
This goal put Corinthians ahead 3-2, and they ultimately secured a 5-2 victory. The win lifted "Timão" out of the relegation zone, moving them up to 16th place.
Reminder: Earlier reports suggested that Depay might remain at Corinthians without receiving a salary.
