Yesterday, a unique event occurred in the history of Greek football. For the first time ever, a club from Greece won a European trophy – Olympiacos defeated Fiorentina 1-0 in the final of the Conference League.

Unsurprisingly, after the final whistle, Athens, where the final was held, remained awake. The streets were filled with Olympiacos fans who celebrated the triumph with flares and fireworks throughout the night.

A video from Athens' central square, ablaze with red from the fires, has gone viral.

To recall, on their way to the final, Olympiacos knocked out Maccabi Tel Aviv, Fenerbahçe, and Aston Villa. They became the third team in history to win the Conference League trophy, following Roma and West Ham.

Fiorentina, on the other hand, lost their second consecutive final in this tournament.
