The passions in Latin American football continue to run high. The brawl involving Uruguayan national team players after their match against Colombia turned out to be not the most alarming incident of the day.
Following a match in Brazil's second division league Goiano between Grêmio Anápolis and Centro Oeste, a mass brawl broke out among the players, prompting police intervention to break it up.
Ultimately, one officer decided to shoot a rubber bullet directly into the leg of Grêmio Anápolis's goalkeeper.
The player has since undergone successful surgery, and a criminal investigation has been launched against the police officer.
