At yesterday's press conference following the Croatia vs. Italy match (1:1), an Italian journalist offered a surprising compliment to Luka Modrić.

"I ask you never to retire; you are one of the best players I have ever had the privilege to commentate on," said the journalist.

The legendary Croatian footballer responded:

"There will come a time when I must end my career, but I do not know when that will be. For now, I will continue, but I want to thank you for the compliment."

It should be noted that Modrić opened the scoring in the 55th minute, but in the eighth minute of added time, Mattia Zaccagni equalized, securing Italy's spot in the Euro 2024 playoffs as the second-placed team.
