Victory! Stellenbosch FC scores at the death to start with their Caf Confederation Cup competition with a win

Substitute Ashley Cupido netted at the death to see Stellenbosch FC collect all three points against AS Otoho in Caf Confederation Cup tie in Polokwane.

This game looked destined for the sharing of the points until the match went deep into the referees’ additional time when things changed.

Cupido connected with a through pass from midfield to finish with his first touch to give the visiting goalkeeper no chance but give his side the victory.

At a virtually empty Peter Mokaba Stadium, Stellies did make inroads into the opposition’s area but is seems the team from Congo-Brazzaville was aiming for a point than three.

The win places Stellies second in their Caf Confederation Cup Group C standings after Algeria’s CR Belouizdad won 2-0 against Singida Black Stars last night at home.

Next week Barker’s troops travel to Tanzania to face Singida Black Stars in the second match of their group.
