Verstappen's pressure leads to Formula 1 track changes
Ahead of a crucial moment in the Formula 1 season, organizers have announced a complete overhaul of the Circuit of the Americas, including a full resurfacing of the track. According to The Sun, this change came as a result of complaints from last year's race winner, Max Verstappen.
Details: The Dutch driver, despite securing victory, expressed concerns about the track's surface, stating that the car was bouncing excessively due to the uneven asphalt. While such conditions might suit regular road cars, they were far from ideal for low-slung Formula 1 vehicles.
In Verstappen’s view, the track was not up to Formula 1 standards, and he had long advocated for the asphalt to be replaced. "It’s something we’ve been asking for a while, but it hadn’t been addressed," Verstappen had remarked.
As a result of these complaints, race promoter Bobby Epstein confirmed that the Circuit of the Americas has undergone its first major resurfacing in 12 years. The bumps have been removed, and Epstein hopes that this time Verstappen will call the new surface "fantastic."
Reminder: Charles Leclerc supported Verstappen’s stance regarding drivers not being censored for using strong language, after the Dutchman criticized FIA President’s request for drivers to refrain from swearing.
