Unpleasant. Free farewell Nadal t-shirts from Roland Garros sold online for €500

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal was honored two days ago with an emotional farewell ceremony at his beloved Grand Slam tournament, Roland Garros. But after the ceremony ended, something happened that cast a sour note over the touching event.
It turned out that the souvenir t-shirts emblazoned with “merci, Rafa,” which were handed out for free to fans in the stands to bid farewell to the legend, later appeared online for sale. The price for one of these shirts reached as high as €500.
French Tennis Federation president Gilles Moretton, clearly disappointed by the situation, addressed the issue at a press conference.
“It’s upsetting, but we didn’t consider taking them back from the fans after the ceremony—that would have been wrong. Still, I appreciate that 98 percent of the spectators in the stands wore those shirts to pay tribute to Nadal. People value his genius, so now those shirts are selling for astronomical prices.”
It’s worth noting that 15,000 people attended Rafael Nadal’s farewell ceremony on the Roland Garros court.
