A special ceremony honors legend Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros
Tennis legend Rafael Nadal took center stage at Roland Garros, where a heartfelt farewell ceremony was held in his honor yesterday. The Spaniard shared emotional photos from the event on his Instagram page.
The ceremony unfolded on Court Philippe-Chatrier in front of a packed crowd and an assembly of tennis greats. Nadal was joined on court by his long-time rivals and friends, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray. Current tennis stars Iga Świątek and Carlos Alcaraz also watched from the stands.
“It has been unforgettable, plenty of emotions for a guy like me that, I don’t love these kind of things because I’m still a little bit shy for all this stuff,” Nadal admitted, clearly moved by the tribute.
In Nadal’s honor, a special memorial plaque featuring his footprint and signature was unveiled on Court Philippe-Chatrier, ensuring a piece of him will remain forever at Roland Garros.
Let’s recall that the Spaniard is a 14-time French Open champion—a record for the most titles at a single Grand Slam tournament.
