Unfortunate start for Leo Messi! Inter Miami fall to Los Angeles
Last night kicked off the new MLS season with a thrilling first-round clash: Los Angeles FC hosted Inter Miami on their home turf.
Details: Javier Mascherano’s side, true to their style, took control of possession and probed for openings to create chances. However, Los Angeles displayed resolute defending and clinical finishing. In the 38th minute, following a midfield error, LA launched a rapid counterattack and, after a pass from Son, Martinez broke the deadlock.
The rest of the action unfolded after the break. Still searching in vain for a way to breach the opposition’s goal, Miami were hit by another counter. Inter’s keeper, St. Clair, made a costly error coming off his line, allowing Bouanga to finish with ease—2-0.
Bouanga turned provider for the third: after a charge down the flank, the striker whipped in a low cross into the box, and Nathan Ordaz was there to meet it, sealing the rout at 3-0.
This win marked LA’s ninth consecutive home-opening victory. Notably, the match drew 75,673 spectators—the largest crowd ever for an MLS season opener.
