Sergio Busquets is taking his first steps towards a coaching career, and his return to Barcelona has opened an exciting new chapter for the club legend.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, the former Barcelona captain has joined Juliano Belletti's coaching staff at Barça Atlètic, where he is currently working in a tactical advisory role. Busquets has already been involved with the reserve team for several weeks, gaining his first practical experience in coaching.
For now, the legendary midfielder is taking a relatively low-profile approach. He works closely with Belletti and his assistant Fran Sánchez, sharing tactical observations and providing advice to the team's players, particularly the midfielders.
Busquets regularly attends Barça Atlètic's training sessions and home matches at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. However, he currently watches games from the stands rather than sitting on the coaching bench.
The 38-year-old Spaniard is expected to begin his UEFA A coaching course in the coming weeks. Once officially enrolled, he will be eligible for a provisional coaching licence that will allow him to join the staff on the sidelines.
Although his return has raised questions about his coaching future, there is no reported agreement for Busquets to replace Hansi Flick. His current responsibilities are limited to Barcelona's reserve team, where he is preparing for a potential career as a head coach.
It is worth noting that Busquets spent 15 seasons with Barcelona's first team before leaving the club in 2023. He ended his playing career in December 2025 and has now returned to the Catalan giants in a completely different role.
