Unexpected. Real Madrid and Andiy Lunin have reached an agreement on a new contract
A new chapter is unfolding in the story of Real Madrid and Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. Contrary to reports suggesting his departure, the goalkeeper might stay at the Bernabéu for a few more years.
Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, citing Marca, Real Madrid and Lunin have reached an agreement on a new contract, which will be valid until June 2028. The current contract was set to expire in June 2025, but after remaining with the club this summer, Lunin is expected to sign the new deal.
The agreement between the parties is anticipated to be formalized soon.
Reminder: Earlier reports indicated that the situation around Lunin’s new contract was far from resolved. The Ukrainian goalkeeper is seeking a more significant role in the team if he agrees to extend his contract.
Meanwhile, the club's management was not prepared to deviate from the terms agreed upon in the spring, which designated Lunin as a backup to Thibaut Courtois.
