Unexpected decision! Star forward left out of Germany's World Cup squad
Germany's head coach Julian Nagelsmann has made one of the most sensational and unexpected moves ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
Details: According to Sky Sport, striker Niclas Füllkrug has been sensationally omitted from the final "Die Mannschaft" squad for the World Cup. The coaching staff has decided to completely forgo the services of the experienced forward.
It's worth noting that at the recent home Euros, Füllkrug was Germany's main "super-sub," regularly rescuing the team with crucial goals after coming off the bench. Overall, the 33-year-old forward, currently on loan at Italian club Milan, has posted phenomenal stats for the national team — netting 14 goals in 24 appearances.
Until the very last moment, German media insiders insisted that Nagelsmann would definitely take at least one classic target man to the tournament. The coaching staff's choice initially came down to Niclas Füllkrug or Tim Kleindienst.
However, in the end, the Germany boss opted to leave the former Borussia striker out of the squad, choosing to focus on other tactical setups.
Reminder: Netherlands striker Memphis Depay has suffered yet another injury and is at risk of missing the World Cup.
