Unexpected. Barcelona's goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen announces separation from wife
Barcelona's goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen unexpectedly announced on his Instagram page that he is divorcing his wife Daniela.
The German posted a message informing his followers that he and his wife have decided to part ways.
"After much thought, Dani and I have decided to go our separate ways. As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision, but we both believe it's for the best. Our joint priority is the well-being of our children—we want to ensure they have a loving and stable environment. We remain committed to co-parenting our children together, treating each other with respect and appreciation, as we always have. During this personal time, we ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy—especially the privacy of our children," wrote ter Stegen.
It is worth noting that Marc-André and Daniela's relationship began in 2012, and five years later, the couple married. In 2019, they welcomed their son Ben, and five years later, in 2024, they became parents to their second son Tom.
Additionally, ter Stegen has been out of play since September 2024 and is unlikely to return to the field before the end of the current season. He was diagnosed with a torn tendon in his right knee.
