Umpiring controversy in the IPL escalates after KKR vs LSG clash
The current 2026 IPL season continues to be rocked by a wave of criticism directed at the umpires, reaching its peak during the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants.
Details: The main source of outrage was the controversial dismissal of Finn Allen: in the second over, Digvesh Rathi caught the ball right on the boundary rope. Replays clearly showed the fielder’s foot touched the boundary cushion (the ropes), which should have automatically resulted in "six runs" instead of an out. However, the on-field umpires didn't even consult the third umpire and immediately signaled the wicket.

The situation was made worse by the bizarre use of technology. The absurdity lies in the fact that while referees are willing to spend 15 minutes checking for a possible wide, a crucial dismissal decision is made in mere seconds without a single video replay.
Another contentious moment raised even more questions, where a violation was obvious but the official broadcast provided only a single, extremely awkward angle.
Reminder: MS Dhoni will miss an important match against Delhi Capitals.
