At the Paris Summer Olympics, the final of the women's high jump took place.

For the first time in her career, Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh became the Olympic champion. The Ukrainian athlete cleared up to 2.02 meters without a single mistake.

Mahuchikh cleared 2.00 meters on her first attempt, while Australia's Nicola Olyslagers cleared it on her third attempt. Olyslagers failed to clear the bar at 2.02 meters, making the Ukrainian the 2024 Olympic champion.

Bronze medals were awarded to another Ukrainian, Iryna Herashchenko, and Australia's Eleanor Patterson, who both cleared 1.95 meters.

This is Mahuchikh's first Olympic gold. She won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.

At the end of 2023, Mahuchikh won all three international tournaments: the European Indoor Championships, the World Athletics Championships and the Diamond League.

In July 2024, at the Diamond League stage in Paris, Yaroslava first set a new national record with a result of 2.07 m, and then broke Stefka Kostadinova's world record of 2.09 m, which had been held since 1987, taking the height of 2.10 m on her first attempt.
