Uganda Cranes’ preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have reportedly been disrupted after several players boycotted a training session due to unpaid allowances.

Reports indicate that a number of squad members refused to participate in training, citing delays in the payment of their allowances. In addition to the outstanding payments, the players are also said to be demanding greater clarity regarding their financial entitlements for the tournament proper. The uncertainty surrounding these allowances is believed to have contributed to the standoff between the players and football authorities.

The situation has reportedly prompted intervention from Uganda Football Association (FUFA) president David Magogo, who is said to have stepped in to calm tensions and prevent further disruption to the team’s preparations.

Uganda are scheduled to open their AFCON campaign on Tuesday against former champions Tunisia, known as the Carthage Eagles, in Fès. The Cranes face a challenging task in Group C, which also includes three-time African champions Nigeria and East African rivals Tanzania
