Paul Put, the coach of Uganda's national soccer team, the Uganda Cranes, has picked a group of 26 players for two upcoming games against Burundi. These matches are part of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and will take place from December 26 to 29, 2024, at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.

Unlike previous CHAN qualifiers, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania have already secured their spots in the final tournament as co-hosts. Burundi and other East African teams are now competing for the fourth regional slot.

Put’s squad blends experience with emerging talent from Uganda's Premier League clubs. Non-residential training will begin on December 21st before the team enters full camp at Nob View Hotel for final preparations.

From February 1st to February 28th, 2025, the CHAN 2024 final event will take place, giving local athletes a chance to shine.

Key players include Vipers SC’s Allan Okello, SC Villa's Hakim Kiwanuka, and URA FC’s Ivan Ahimbisibwe, with seasoned campaigner Milton Karisa bringing crucial experience to the squad.
