Uche’s Magic Leads Getafe Rout: Two Assists and a Masterclass Performance
Getafe defeated Real Valladolid 4–0 in La Liga on Sunday thanks to a masterclass from young Nigerian player Christantus Uche.
Uche's Immediate Impact
The 21-year-old midfielder quickly made his presence known. Mauro Arambarri easily finished after Uche nodded a deft pass a few seconds into the game, giving Getafe the ideal start.
A Midfield Creative Engine
Uche had another brilliant moment in the 19th minute. Ramon Terrats extended the advantage with a precise finish after he slipped a perfectly weighted through pass to him under pressure from two defenders.
Moments later, Uche played a key role again. A delicate backheel released Juan Bernat, who squared the ball for Terrats to score his second and Getafe’s third before halftime.
Total Dominance
Valladolid’s woes deepened when Mario Martín was sent off in first-half stoppage time. Uche, who was substituted in the 62nd minute, had already done more than enough to shape the outcome.
Domingos Duarte added a fourth goal late on, sealing a dominant performance for the visitors.
A Star on the Rise
Beyond his two assists, Uche created two big chances, completed two key passes, won three tackles, and claimed six duels. He also registered two shots — one blocked and one narrowly wide.
Uche earned an impressive SofaScore rating of 8.0, trailing only teammates Terrats (9.0) and Duarte (8.1).
Eyes on the Super Eagles
With five goals and seven assists in his debut La Liga season, Uche is quickly becoming one of Getafe’s most influential players. Having narrowly missed out on Nigeria’s last squad, his continued form could soon earn him a Super Eagles call-up.
Getafe will host Las Palmas next weekend, with Uche expected to play a key role once again.
