Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has been handed a lengthy suspension and a fine for unsportsmanlike conduct, according to Goal.
The incident occurred during the Premier League Matchday 8 clash against Leeds, which Burnley won 2-0. Mejbri came off the bench in the 83rd minute and, during his warm-up, spat at an opposing fan.
An investigation was launched after a Leeds supporter filed a complaint with Lancashire police. After reviewing video evidence, the police decided not to pursue criminal charges but referred the case to the FA, which completed its disciplinary process.
As a result, the Football Association found the Manchester United academy product guilty of misconduct. The player received a four-match ban and a £15,000 fine.
For the record, Hannibal has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, providing one assist.
