Sandile Zungu's business acumen is what South African football needs.

Zungu's success in the corporate world is something which should work for his Safa presidential ambitions.

Zungu, who is president of PSL club AmaZulu, is challenging Safa's incumbent Danny Jordaan, at this year's elective conference in September.

And his PSL counterpart at TS galaxy, Tim Sukazi, said he supports Zungu's bid to be Safa president as his corporate world profile fits the presidential bill.

"I haven't had a chance to talk to Mr Zungu about his future plans, so I am curious to know what he has in mind for football. However, he is an established and quite successful businessman. At the end of it all, football is business, so you do need captains of the industry to be involved. As football, we are quite fortunate to have one in him, in addition to Dr Patrice Motsepe and a few others," said Sukazi on Zungu, who launched his campaign on Saturday.

"The more they are well entrenched in the game, without doubt, the better for the game. We stand to benefit. I wish him well, and I wish his campaign would be a success, and I wish he ticks all the boxes because it's not a straightforward thing from what I know. It might prove to be a breath of fresh air. We've never been led by an astute captain of the industry. I am talking strictly business. He's got my support, and I wish him well."

Safa's elective congress takes place in September.
