True hero! Olympic champion from Botswana rescues people during flood
Botswana’s Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo has proven to be a hero both on and off the track. In addition to becoming the first athlete from his country to win Olympic gold, he is now helping rescue people affected by severe flooding, reports Daily Mail.
Tebogo assisted several stranded motorists in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, after heavy rains caused widespread flooding. Using his all-wheel-drive Land Cruiser, he helped pull vehicles out of the water, ensuring their passengers’ safety.
Tebogo made history at the 2024 Olympic Games by winning gold in the 200m sprint, setting a new African record with a time of 19.46 seconds. He also contributed to Botswana’s silver medal in the 4x400m relay, where his team finished second to the United States.
The sprinter has also enjoyed success at the World Championships, winning silver and bronze in Budapest in 2023, and previously claimed African Championship gold in Mauritius in 2022.
