Transfer trick for €18 million! Barcelona cleverly finalizes Ferran Torres sale to PSG

Barcelona have found a way to squeeze the maximum out of Ferran Torres' high-profile transfer.

Details: The Spanish forward’s move to PSG cost the Parisians €50 million, and this figure was anything but random. According to Cadena SER, thanks to the deal’s structure, Barcelona managed to avoid two extra payments to Manchester City totaling around €18 million.

The first condition was tied to Ferran’s contract. Had Barcelona extended the deal with the striker—which was set to expire in the summer of 2027—the Catalans would have owed Manchester City an additional €8 million. By selling the player before a renewal, they dodged that payment entirely.

But the savings didn’t stop there. The original agreement for Torres’ transfer from Manchester City also included a clause: the English club would receive €10 million if the Spaniard was later sold for €55 million or more. Barcelona settled on €50 million, thus avoiding triggering that payout as well.

As a result, the Catalans not only secured a hefty sum for the player but also saved another €18 million on commitments to his former club.

It’s worth noting that Ferran Torres’ transfer to PSG is now official. The 26-year-old Spaniard has signed a contract with the Parisian club until 2031.
