Negotiations between the clubs have intensified notably in recent days. Manchester City rejected Barcelona’s previous improved offer, but the Catalans didn’t walk away and quickly came back with a new approach. According to the latest reports, the English side values Rodri at around £60–65 million, so Barcelona’s current package is now much closer to City’s demands.
Much will now depend on the final structure of the deal—the guaranteed sum and potential bonuses. Barcelona’s stance remains crystal clear: the club wants to see these talks through to a successful conclusion and is convinced that an agreement with Manchester City is within reach.
The saga surrounding the Spaniard has been dragging on for several weeks. Back on August 13, it was reported that Manchester City had rejected a £55 million bid from Barcelona, but negotiations continued. Now, the Catalans have once again raised the stakes and appear to be entering the decisive stage in their pursuit of the midfielder.
It’s worth noting that Rodri’s current contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2027. In the 2025/26 season, the Spaniard played 33 matches for the English club across all competitions, scoring two goals, and Transfermarkt values him at €55 million.
