Transfer saga nearing its end? Álvarez announces his decision
Atlético Madrid has put an end to speculation surrounding Julián Álvarez’s possible departure during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Details: According to TEAMtalk, the Spanish club’s management, together with the Argentine striker’s representatives, informed Arsenal of London and French side PSG that the player will definitely not leave the team in January.
Despite continued interest from European giants, both the club and the 26-year-old forward have made a firm decision to focus on the current season and achieving their objectives in La Liga and the Champions League. Atlético’s management made it clear that it is not considering the sale of one of its key players midway through the campaign, definitively crushing the suitors’ hopes of completing a deal soon.
For Arsenal and PSG, this news means they will have to turn their attention to other targets to strengthen their attacking lines in the winter window. Although the Premier League and Ligue 1 giants continue to closely monitor the situation surrounding Álvarez, any negotiations and potential attempts to sign the Argentine have now been postponed until at least the summer transfer window.
In the 2026/27 season, Álvarez has played nine matches in Atlético’s red-and-white shirt, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
