Transfer race! Barcelona and Real Madrid battle for a young talent
A fierce transfer battle is unfolding in Spain for one of Manchester United's brightest young talents.
Details: According to renowned insider Florian Plettenberg, Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently leading the race to sign Manchester United's 16-year-old sensation JJ Gabriel. The total financial package required to secure the youngster could reach €10m–€15m or even more, including salary, bonuses and a signing-on fee.
Both Spanish giants have shown serious interest in Gabriel, whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. The teenager requested the cancellation of his Manchester United registration in September, but the English club refused to grant his request. The two La Liga rivals are now among the leading contenders for his signature.
However, the competition is not limited to Spain. Bayern Munich have also held talks with the player's representatives, offering him a potential pathway to first-team football. The German giants are reportedly concerned about the substantial financial demands from Gabriel's camp, while Barcelona and Real Madrid are prepared to discuss lucrative packages.
Manchester United are still attempting to retain their academy prospect. On October 8, the club formally offered Gabriel a scholarship for next season, although his departure remains a possibility. No agreement with either Spanish giant has been officially confirmed, and the reported €10m–€15m figure refers to the overall potential package rather than just a transfer fee.
It's worth noting that Gabriel celebrated his 16th birthday on October 6. Last season, the young forward was named the Premier League U18 Player of the Season despite competing against older opponents.
