The future of Marc-André ter Stegen remains up in the air. The German goalkeeper's loan move from Barcelona to Ajax has hit a major roadblock and is currently on hold.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the clubs are unable to reach an agreement on how to split the 34-year-old's salary. Financial disagreements have become the main stumbling block preventing the deal from being finalized.

Reports suggest that Barcelona are unwilling to make concessions in the negotiations. The Catalan club is under pressure to strictly adhere to financial fair play regulations and is therefore not prepared to take on any additional portion of the player's wages.

Earlier, it was reported that ter Stegen is not part of the coaching staff's plans for the new season, which prompted the Blaugrana management to seek a loan move for the experienced keeper. With negotiations ongoing, the final decision on the transfer remains unresolved. The outcome of the deal is expected to be determined in the coming days.
