Real Madrid is ready to go head-to-head with Arsenal in the race to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Details: According to The Sun, scouts from the Spanish giants were in the stands at St James’ Park during Saturday’s clash against Manchester City, closely monitoring the 25-year-old Italian’s performance. While their primary mission was to gather intel ahead of a Champions League showdown with the Citizens, Los Blancos’ clear interest in Tonali has sent shockwaves through the transfer market.

Newcastle considers Tonali a cornerstone of their squad and has no intention of letting him go on the cheap. The Magpies’ hierarchy have slapped a £100 million price tag on the Italian international. While the club is eager to avoid a drawn-out transfer saga, they recognize that keeping hold of a star of Tonali’s caliber will be a major challenge if they fail to secure European football for next season.

The player’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, has confirmed that all key decisions will only be made after the current campaign concludes. For now, Tonali remains fully focused on his performances for Newcastle.

So far this season, the Italian midfielder has featured in 45 matches, registering 3 goals and 7 assists. Transfermarkt currently values him at €75 million.

Reminder: Real Madrid is targeting summer reinforcements and is preparing a total of €100 million for two players.
