Tragic incident: Former Atalanta star Luis Muriel’s relative shot dead in Colombia
A horrifying tragedy has struck the family of former Atalanta forward Luis Muriel. According to The Sun, his wife’s brother was shot dead by unknown assailants in Colombia.
The victim, 24-year-old Luis Ramírez Lindao, was gunned down in his Toyota Fortuner after being ambushed by automatic weapon fire. Reports indicate that 20 bullets were fired, five of which struck him in the head, killing him instantly.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, but police are investigating potential political connections, as Lindao was related to at least two politicians, including a parliamentary deputy from La Guajira.
It has also been reported that Ramírez had received threats in the days leading up to his death and was planning to leave the area.
Muriel, who currently plays for MLS club Orlando City, paid tribute to his late relative on Instagram, expressing his grief over the loss.
"You left us with the emptiness of your absence but your beautiful memory remains in our hearts, everywhere and at every moment. You will always live on in our thoughts," Muriel wrote.
