19-year-old Romanian footballer Luca Manolach passed away after a mysterious illness, managing to call his mother in the final moments of his life.

The midfielder was nurtured at the legendary Romanian club FCSB, but recently played for several other teams on loan. In February 2024, he moved to Metaloglobus, but by August 2024, he was no longer being selected even for the local Liga 2 matches.

The cause was fatigue, dizziness, chills, and bloody stools, as reported by Mirror. During one match, an ambulance had to be called for Luca after he complained of his vision darkening.

X-rays after Manolach's illness initially returned to normal, but on February 28, he felt a deterioration in his condition after a walk with a family member.

His mother recounted that he called her while she was in Bucharest. During their final brief phone conversation, Luca managed to say, "Mom, I can't do anything. Do you think I'm dying?"

Despite vomiting a significant amount of blood, doctors tried to save Luca's life, but his body reacted negatively to stomach acid, in which he drowned.

At Manolach's last club, Metaloglobus, they expressed their shock at this tragedy:

“His love for football and his smile brought joy to the field,” the club stated.
