American Boxer Carson Jones Died Due to Complications After Throat Surgery
Carson Jones, a former welterweight title contender, passed away at the age of 38 due to complications following throat surgery.
Details. Jones had been struggling with his health in recent months. In January, he discovered he was suffering from achalasia, a rare swallowing disorder. In a social media post dated February 19, he expressed his relief and mentioned that he was scheduled for surgery.
He underwent throat surgery but died from complications that arose after the procedure.
Jones, from Oklahoma City, last fought in 2023 when he knocked out James Warren in two rounds, bringing his record to 44-16-3 (32 KOs).
He was a welterweight champion with titles from the USBA, NABA, and WBC Continental Americas. He reached his highest ranking in May 2012, becoming 4th in the world by the IBF in the welterweight division.
