Tragedy: 24-year-old Croatian footballer drowns in the sea in Spain

Swiss third-division footballer Jakov Djelkić, who played for Grange-Paccot, was found dead in the water at the port of Alicante, reports The Sun. According to Marca, the Croatian was in Spain with his team, participating in a football tournament.

Local police stated that the tragic incident occurred during a night out with his teammates. Reports indicate that he was last seen stumbling after consuming alcohol as he left a nightclub.

Djelkić never returned to his hotel, prompting staff to report his disappearance the next morning. His family posted appeals on social media asking for help in finding him, but shortly afterward, police discovered his body in the waters of the local port.

Authorities confirmed that his death was an accident, leading to speculation that he fell into the water while intoxicated and drowned.

His club, teammates, and fans have paid tribute to Djelkić, expressing their condolences and support for his grieving family.
