The highlight of the fourth round of the English Premier League will be the North London Derby – Arsenal will travel to face Tottenham.
The hosts have had a rather unconvincing start to the season, with one win, one draw, and one loss from their opening three matches. Meanwhile, Arsenal began with two victories but stumbled in their last game against Brighton, managing only a draw and missing out on a win.
During the pre-match press conference, Tottenham’s head coach Ange Postecoglou stated that the absence of several players does not weaken the team and highlighted the factors that make Arsenal a side of such a high calibre.
"What makes Arsenal a tough opponent, even with the absence of several key players? I think it’s the consistency, the approach, and the mentality.
I believe we’ve especially seen this over the last two years – they’ve been relentless. They’ve rotated their squad, but there’s a strong core that has kept them at such a high level over the past two years. I think over time, that has given them a strong sense of self-belief."
On the other hand, Arsenal’s head coach Mikel Arteta shared his admiration for his counterpart ahead of the match.
"I admire and respect him. He’s inspiring because he’s done things his way in different contexts and countries. He has a unique vision of the game and his own philosophy. I like that, and he stays true to it.
We will approach the match against Tottenham with incredible energy and believe we can show our best and will be striving to win the game."
Unfortunately, not all players will be able to help their teams today, and Arsenal’s injury list is far longer. Spurs will be without Richarlison, while Yves Bissouma’s participation is doubtful. For Arsenal, Mikel Merino, Martin Ødegaard, Declan Rice, Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu will miss the match, while Ricardo Calafiori’s involvement is uncertain.
Surely, both managers will field their strongest available players. Both teams will fight for another three points this season. The Dailysports team has provided information on the likely lineups, based on the managers’ previous decisions.
