Top leagues unable to agree on new summer transfer window deadline – who is opposing?
The English Premier League previously announced its desire to shift the closing date of the summer transfer window. The league wants the window to shut before the start of the new season rather than on the final day of August. However, this proposal has faced resistance.
Details: According to Serie A president Ezio Simonelli, the Italian league supports the Premier League's initiative, but other top leagues have not backed the plan.
Quote:
"We want the window to close before the start of the season, just like the Premier League. But La Liga will not close before August 31, and it seems the same will happen with the Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
We need unanimity for this to happen, and that is not easy."
Reminder: Yesterday, it was reported that La Liga has blocked Vitor Roque’s transfer from Barcelona to Palmeiras.
