Top Bundesliga club has loaned Atletico talent
After Conor Gallagher's transfer from Chelsea, young midfielder Arthur Vermeeren found no place in Atlético Madrid's squad, making a loan move the most logical solution.
Today, RB Leipzig officially announced Vermeeren's loan move. However, a return to Madrid is unlikely, as the loan agreement includes an obligation to buy for €25 million.
Leipzig sees the 19-year-old Belgian as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Olmo, who joined Barcelona this summer.
Last winter, Atlético signed Vermeeren from Antwerp for €18 million. At his previous club, he was the captain and led them to the Belgian Championship title in the 2022/23 season. So far, he has made just five appearances for Atlético.
In the first round of the current Bundesliga season, RB Leipzig narrowly defeated Bochum 1-0 at home.
It is worth recalling that Atletico announced the transfer of defender Clement Lenglet from Barcelona today.
