Toni Kroos humorously reacted to the announcement of the 2024 Ballon d'Or nominees

On Wednesday, September 4, France Football announced the list of 30 candidates for the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

Among the nominees is former Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Toni Kroos. The German amusingly reacted on his X (formerly Twitter) account to a post mentioning that he had retired. Kroos wrote: "Thank you for the reminder."

Notably, for the first time since 2003, neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi was included among the Ballon d'Or contenders.

Additionally, France Football has also announced the nominees for the Kopa Trophy and the Lev Yashin Award.
