On Wednesday, September 4, France Football announced the nominees for the 2024 Ballon d'Or.
The names of the 30 footballers vying for the award have been revealed. Notably, for the first time since 2003, neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi is included in the list. Since 2004, at least one of this star duo had always been a Ballon d'Or contender.
Last year, Lionel Messi won the Ballon d'Or, marking his eighth award and solidifying his record. Cristiano Ronaldo, who last won the award in 2017, has a total of five Ballon d'Or trophies.
Additionally, France Football has also announced the nominees for the Kopa Trophy and the Lev Yashin Award.
