Tonali’s agent denies reports of a move to Arsenal
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino has picked up an injury, prompting the London club to look for a replacement for the Spaniard. One of the names discussed was Tonali, but that speculation has now been shut down.
Details: The Italian player’s agent stated that Sandro will not be moving anywhere and that the information was false.
Quote: “This is not even being discussed right now. We will see around March what Sandro’s situation looks like, but only if Newcastle decide to open the door. At the moment, he is fully focused on the season with Newcastle — this is a pointless topic,” said Giuseppe Riso.
We previously reported that Arsenal had offered Tonali a five-year contract and an impressive salary package in an attempt to lure the Italian star, but ultimately the final decision rests with Newcastle.
Reminder: This season, Tonali has made 35 appearances for Newcastle, providing five assists. His current contract with the Magpies runs until 2028, and Transfermarkt values him at €75 million.
