Tolu Arokodare Responds to Bayern Munich Rumours Amid Stellar Season at Genk

Genk striker Tolu Arokodare has addressed growing speculation linking him with a potential transfer to German champions Bayern Munich, insisting there has been no contact yet but admitting the idea of playing alongside Harry Kane is appealing.
The 24-year-old Nigerian international, who earned his first Super Eagles cap in March, has been in red-hot form this season — netting 22 goals and providing 7 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Genk.
"Could I Be Harry Kane's Replacement? That Would Be Nice"
Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, Arokodare said:
“That I would be the stand-in for Harry Kane? Yes. That would be nice, wouldn’t it? But those are just rumors. I haven’t had any contact.”
He added:
“If the opportunity comes, I have to make sure I’m ready. You never know how many times a train will pass, so I don’t want to miss any opportunities.”
With Mathys Tel’s future uncertain at Bayern, the club is believed to be scouting forwards to support or eventually succeed Kane, and Arokodare is reportedly on their radar.
Transfer Value Rising
- Signed from Amiens for €5 million in January 2023
- Current market value: €13 million
- Reported asking price: €25 million
- Contract runs until 2027
Genk are under no pressure to sell, but his standout campaign and rising profile mean the Belgian side could cash in this summer if the right offer arrives.
Title Hopes Fading but Belief Remains
Arokodare is still an important player as Genk looks to finish strongly, even though his play suffered during the Championship playoffs. With 41 points, they are currently in third place, behind Union SG (48) and Club Brugge (46). They play Brugge today in a match that they absolutely must win.
