Chelsea are preparing for their EFL Cup quarter-final clash, but their main star, Cole Palmer, will be unavailable for the fixture. The club’s head coach has explained the situation.

Details: Cole Palmer will miss the match against Cardiff, having played just a few days ago against Everton. Manager Enzo Maresca stated that the English midfielder cannot be asked to play two matches a week.

Quote: “As I have said many times, Cole is one of the players who must be protected. Physically, he cannot play two matches within three days,” Maresca said.

Chelsea will face Cardiff in the EFL Cup quarter-final on Tuesday, December 16, away from home. Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 CET.

Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with 28 points after 16 matches, holding a two-point advantage over fifth place.

Reminder: Cole Palmer, who returned to the Blues’ starting line-up after a long injury layoff, managed to get on the scoresheet in the match against Everton.
