Details: According to Asharq Al-Awsat, three athletes were killed during the protests. Mojtaba Torshiz, a footballer for the Tabriz-based club Tractor Sazi, was killed along with his wife. Iranian basketball player Ahmad Khosravani was also killed, as well as Mehdi Lavasani, a coach of the football team Mahan Novin.

Recently, the world of French football was also shaken by the sad news of the death of former Marseille and Monaco player Roland Courbis at the age of 72.
