The crisis between Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus has taken a darker turn. A close friend of the Portugal coach has alleged that Jesus was threatened with dismissal if he did not publicly apologize to Ronaldo, a claim that has sent shockwaves through Portuguese football.

Details: According to SIC Notícias, Carlos Padrão, a former goalkeeper and personal friend of Jorge Jesus, revealed on the 'Jogo Aberto' program that Tiago Craveiro, a strategic consultant for Cristiano Ronaldo's company CR7 SA, contacted someone in Jesus' entourage before the press conference ahead of the Denmark match. The alleged message was clear: if Jesus did not open the press conference with a public apology to Ronaldo, he would be dismissed. Padrão stated that the threat was not made directly to Jesus, suggesting it may have been passed to his lawyer.

The fallout has left Jesus deeply affected. According to Padrão, who spoke with the coach on Tuesday morning, Jesus is 'very sad' about the entire situation. The coach refused to follow the alleged script, stating simply: 'I don't apologize to anyone'. Padrão drew a distinction between admitting a mistake and apologizing: 'Admitting an error is one thing, apologizing is another. Jorge assured me he didn't apologize to anyone. He took responsibility for the mistake and justified it, but didn't apologize'. Ronaldo, meanwhile, left the national team camp after feeling betrayed, later releasing a 1,996-word statement in which he claimed Jesus had promised to publicly clarify the situation but instead attacked him at the press conference.

It's worth noting that Tiago Craveiro is a significant figure in Portuguese football administration. He served as director general of the Portuguese Football Federation from 2012 until 2022, later moving into a strategic advisory role with UEFA, and since late 2023 has worked as a strategic consultant for CR7 SA, Ronaldo's holding company. He has not publicly responded to the allegations. The Portuguese Football Federation has also not confirmed the claims, and Ronaldo's representatives have remained silent. The episode has already become one of the most explosive chapters in the long-running saga between Portugal's greatest player and the coach who once managed him at Al-Nassr.

Reminder: Madness! Ronaldo is trying to get Jorge Jesus fired.
