"Thought I was having a heart attack!" Luke Humphries opens up about weight struggles
Darts star Luke Humphries has revealed how his excess weight impacted his health and overall physical condition. In the Sky Sports documentary Game of Throws, he shared a terrifying experience during a match when he felt an unusual racing heartbeat and feared he might be having a heart attack.
This incident occurred in 2019 during the German Open Championship match against James Wade.
"I'd never felt my heartbeat and then I felt like it was going a bit fast. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It really scared me," Humphries admitted.
Luke also spoke about how being overweight affected him mentally as well as physically. He constantly worried about how others perceived him, which distracted him and hindered his performance on the oche.
During the lockdown, Humphries decided to take control of his health and committed himself to losing weight. Through hard work and dedication, he managed to shed 30 kilograms. Shedding the extra weight not only boosted his confidence but also significantly improved his overall health, leaving him feeling much fitter and healthier.
