"This morning he told us he's moving to Girona" - Flick confirms Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen is leaving the club
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has commented on goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen's transfer to Girona.
Details: At the pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League Matchday 7 clash against Slavia Prague, one journalist asked Barcelona's head coach Hansi Flick if Ter Stegen's departure was confirmed. Flick replied:
"Is it already confirmed? Oh, Balde confirmed it today at the press conference…" the coach said jokingly.
Flick later added:
"This morning Marc told us that he's moving to Girona. He's a fantastic goalkeeper and we wish him all the best."
Flick emphasized that Ter Stegen needed regular playing time to have a chance of making the World Cup squad this summer.
"He's a remarkable keeper and he needed to play in order to be ready for the big tournaments," the coach added.
It's worth noting that Barcelona will play their Champions League match against Slavia Prague tomorrow, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 Central European Time.
This season, Marc-André ter Stegen has played just one match for the Catalan side – in the Copa del Rey against Guadalajara, where the German keeper kept a clean sheet.
Reminder: Barcelona are looking to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.
