“This is why he's number one”. Flick explained his decision to choose Szczesny

After a long break, Wojciech Szczęsny managed to etch his name into Champions League history, silencing critics. His assured performance against Benfica further convinced Hansi Flick of his choice of the Pole.

Details: After the Champions League match, Flick, the head coach of Barcelona, stated that Szczesny excelled in his duties despite the numerous goals conceded earlier.

Quote: “He did very well, as did the other players. It's his job, and everything is very clear. That's why Tek is number one now. When you see how players have played before, how they trained, you make a decision along with what the staff says. We care about the results they can offer. All the coaches understood that he can reach this level,” Flick stated.

Reminder: It was previously announced that Barcelona intends to extend Szczesny's contract for another year.
