“This Is Something We Can Be Proud Of” – Mamelodi Sundowns Defender Reflects on Club World Cup Performance
Mamelodi Sundowns may have missed out on the Club World Cup playoffs, but according to one of the team's defenders, there's still plenty to take pride in.
Details: Grant Kekana emphasized that the team needs to believe in themselves more, and that alone is something to be proud of. While disappointed not to reach the knockout stage, he believes the experience lays a foundation for the future.
Quote: “This is something we can be proud of. Of course, we still have a lot to learn — we made mistakes, we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal — but that’s part of football. What matters is that we stuck together. We’re a united group, there’s a real sense of brotherhood here, and we can be proud of the effort we put in. Naturally, we’re disappointed not to progress to the next round, but this gives us something to build on,” Kekana said.
Reminder: Head coach Miguel Cardoso has shared his vision for the team moving forward. Cardoso revealed that he aims to reduce the size of the squad, focusing on building a smaller but more refined group of players.
