This is not the end yet! England still ready to boycott FIFA tournaments

Details: According to The Sun, the England national team remains ready to boycott future FIFA tournaments, despite FIFA president Gianni Infantino officially scrapping his controversial plan to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors. UEFA has stated that the conditions for lifting the boycott have not been met, and trust in the FIFA chief has been completely lost.

Recall, on July 30, all 55 UEFA member federations unanimously voted to boycott FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, after Infantino proposed selling 20% of the new commercial subsidiary FIFA Forward Enterprise, valued at $20 billion. Under pressure from three confederations, the FIFA president withdrew the project on August 1 and even issued an apology, but UEFA insisted that “nothing has changed.” England, along with Wales and Finland, have already officially withdrawn their support for Infantino’s re-election.

If the boycott does go ahead, the 2030 World Cup risks losing six of the world’s top ten national teams, including the European champion Lionesses at the women’s tournament.
