The crisis surrounding FIFA's leadership is rapidly escalating.

Details: The English Football Association (FA) has officially issued a statement supporting UEFA's position and calling for a comprehensive overhaul of the global football governing body's management system.

In a statement from the FA spokesperson, the organization expressed full alignment with the concerns raised by the European football union and stressed the need for deep reforms within FIFA's leadership.

"We fully support UEFA’s position. It is time for a full and thorough review of FIFA’s leadership and governance to ensure transparent management of global football in the interests of all 211 member nations, with long-term football development as the priority," the statement reads.

With this move, England has become one of the world's football powerhouses to openly demand reforms at FIFA in the wake of the scandal surrounding the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which the organization was forced to abandon.

Support from the FA dramatically increases the pressure on Gianni Infantino. Previously, UEFA, CONCACAF, the Asian Football Confederation, and a number of high-profile football officials—including former FIFA presidential advisor Carlos Cordeiro—had already opposed FIFA's initiative.

The issue now goes far beyond the cancelled project, raising questions about the future of the entire system of global football governance.
