Immediately after the final whistle in Lisbon, which marked Real Madrid's 2-4 defeat to Benfica, Kylian Mbappé stormed straight into the dressing room to confront his teammates. Mbappé himself scored a brace, but it wasn't enough to save the team.

Details: At the post-match press conference, the Frenchman did not hide his anger at the loss, stating that Benfica showed more fighting spirit.

“Today, it wasn't about tactics or skill. It was all about fighting spirit—they had more of it,” the striker said bluntly, emphasizing that the squad's commitment did not match the standards of the 'royal club.'

Mbappé openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's attitude, contrasting Madrid's mindset with the Portuguese side's hunger.

“I saw Benfica fighting for their lives out there, but I didn't see that from us,” Kylian admitted.

Mbappé was particularly infuriated by the decisive goal conceded to goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin in the 98th minute.

“The last goal we allowed—it's a disgrace for us! We're appallingly unstable!” the attacking leader added emotionally.

As a result, Real finished ninth and will face either Benfica again or Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League playoff round. The draw will take place tomorrow, January 30.

Reminder: Anatoliy Trubin became the fifth goalkeeper to score in the Champions League.
