The situation surrounding the 115 charges against Manchester City for breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations is reaching a boiling point.

Details: According to SportBible, if the club is found guilty, the punishment could be the harshest in football history. We're talking about a potential deduction of 40 to 60 points, which would inevitably see the team relegated from the Premier League to the Championship.

Comparing this to previous sanctions against Everton and Nottingham Forest, such a penalty appears logical. Considering Manchester City's alleged violations span a nine-year period (from 2009 to 2018), any punishment would be significantly greater than the 4–6-point deductions handed to other clubs for isolated infractions.

Although the main hearings concluded in December 2024, the verdict from the independent commission has been delayed due to the sheer volume of evidence—around 500,000 pieces of evidence were submitted by both parties. The process is further complicated by secrecy and legal technicalities: three senior judges are working behind closed doors on a case comparable in complexity to major fraud investigations.

The final decision is expected to be announced in the coming months, and experts do not rule out the possibility that it could come at the most dramatic moment—during the final week of the league or even during the World Cup.

Reminder: Arsenal has entered the race with Manchester City for Honest Ahanor.
